Hiking Craters of the Moon in Flip-Flops
The last time our family went to St Anthony we decided to take a "little" pit-stop at the Crater's of the Moon National Monument. We thought we could drive around in the park, see some cinder cones, and be out of there in an hour. Well, we were hustling and it still took us 2 1/2 hours and could have taken us a lot longer. O.K. here's my pitch for supporting our National Parks. They are really COOL! We couldn't help ourselves. We had to get out and explore a little bit.
Jeff and the kids hiked up to the top of an old cinder cone. It really was much steeper than it appears in this picture.
We also enjoyed some cave exploring and we'd like to go back if only to do more caving. It was very cool, but next time we'll opt for appropriate footwear instead of flip-flops, and maybe we'll skip the skirt for Lizzie. We arrived in St Anthony 1 hour late very juicy and grimy, but happy for the exploration.
This trip has fine tuned some of Jeff's life goals. Instead of visiting places in an RV he'd like to visit ALL the national parks in that RV.
